Challenge
When Dr. Tom Harris took over as VP Advancement, the university was in the quiet phase of a campaign. He wanted to ensure the campaign and the advancement team was positioned for success with high-level strategic advice on the progress of the campaign to date, and to ensure the tactical processes reflected contemporary practices and the centralized/decentralized nature of Queen’s advancement.
Why TheY chose Offord
“I tell people that the problem with most consultants – that they haven’t actually done the work we’re asking them to advise on – isn’t the case with Offord,” says Tom. “Their consultants have worked in the real world. I also sensed that their approach would be as rooted in the project as we were. And I was right.”
The Offord value
“Offord’s work has emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach in a complicated centralized/decentralized structure,” says Tom. “In particular, their advice in engaging key volunteers and cabinet members, their perspective on the process for priority setting, review of practices related to prospect clearance, and the personal coaching I received have all been exceptionally strong. I value their professionalism and I really feel that the solutions and the advice we got reflected the culture of Queen’s.”
